about

Our Mission

Our mission is to be the most customer and pet friendly clinic in Mt. Pleasant providing high quality, reasonably priced spay/neuter surgery, dentals, vaccines, and other outpatient medical care.

Martha McTavish, D.V.M.

MarthaDr. Martha McTavish has a B.A. from Colby College in Waterville, Maine. She spent thPleasant Pet Care Website Imagese next two and a half years in the Kingdom of Tonga as a Peace Corps volunteer. In 1995, after graduating from Iowa State University with her D.V.M., she moved (along with her dog that she brought home from Tonga) to Los Angeles and completed an internship year in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery in 1996. She then worked at a seven doctor practice in Los Angeles for three years.

Since 1998 she has been in South Carolina, and has performed over 40,000 spay/neuter surgeries. She worked part-time for six years at the Grand Strand Humane Society in Myrtle Beach, and owned a housecall practice in Myrtle Beach before relocating to Mt. Pleasant in 2002. Her exposure in animal shelters has instilled strong feelings about the need for all dogs and cats to be spayed and neutered to aid in the reduction of the pet overpopulation problem.

The hospital was opened in October 2006 to primarily offer high quality reasonably priced spay and neuter surgery. Since the hospital opened it has increased the services offered to include all outpatient care: i.e. surgery for lumps and bumps, lacerations, annual exams, treatment of skin and urinary tract infections, allergy testing and treatments, puppy and kitten visits. You can also refill your flea and heartworm medications with us.

Walk-in days are held on Tuesday and Friday from 9am-2pm.We do not schedule appointments but just see clients on a first come first serve basis on those 2 days. We do NOT perform surgeries or dentals on Tuesdays and Fridays. We are happy to see you for vaccines and exams on the other days of the week, we just operate by appointments on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. The fees are no different on a walk day versus appointment day.

Surgeries and dentals are by appointment only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
